Painting FAQ
Q. What should I look for in a good painting contractor?
A. Florida requires painters, and all contractors, to have a current business license in good standing. So should you! Work with established, licensed professionals and check their portfolio of previous work and references.
Q. Why do I care if my painting contractor uses "high quality" paint? I thought all paint was the same?
A. As with any type of job and professional materials, the better the quality the better the results. The completed work will not only look better, it will be more equipped to handle the tests of time, including just every day wear and tear. You get what you pay for and cheap, inferior, or low quality paint isn't worth the investment.
Q. How do I hire a painter?
A. Start by asking people you know and trust who they used. If you see a neighboring home with finished work you like, inquire as to who do it. You'll still want to interview a few candidates and get quotes. Keep in mind, the ultimate goal isn't the cheapest rate; it's the best value. That means high-quality service and results for a reasonable rate.
Q. Do you give advice for house painting color selection?
A. We offer a free consultation which can include discussing color options. Ultimately, it's up to you or your HOA guidelines, but we're there to offer advice and suggestions.
Q. What are different paint sheens?
A. There are several different types of paint sheens including high gloss, semi-gloss, satin, eggshell, and flat or matte. Each one has its benefits and the place in your home that it's most appropriate. We'll help you understand each and make the right choice for inside and outside your home.
Q. What should I do to prepare for painting?
A. The painting team should do most of the prep work for the space and the walls, but there are some things you can do to get ready. Remove wall hangings and anything decorative on or near walls that could get in the way or damaged. Make it easy for the contractors to move around by removing obstructions. Make arrangements for kids and pets, if need be. Discuss with your painter if there's anything else they'd like you to take care of.
